U10 & U12 Youth Flag — Recreational
Non-contact flag rugby for athletes born 2014–2018. Flag rugby is a fun introduction to the sport focused on movement, teamwork, and skill development in a safe, positive environment. Whether trying rugby for the first time or continuing after Rookie Rugby, this program is designed for all experience levels.
Includes: Team t-shirt and weekly practices.

U10 & U12 Youth Flag — Competitive
Non-contact flag rugby for athletes born 2014–2018 seeking additional skill development and game play opportunities. The competitive stream introduces players to provincial jamborees while maintaining a fun and supportive learning environment.
Includes: T-shirt, practices and jamboree participation.

Junior VRU Intro to Contact (U12–U14)
An introduction to contact rugby for athletes born 2012–2014. This program teaches safe contact skills through age-appropriate progressions and game-based learning. Players will be divided by gender for contact activities.
Includes: Trainings and tournaments across the province.

Junior VRU (U16, U18)
Competitive contact rugby for athletes born 2007–2011. This program supports athletes looking to elevate their game, refine skills, and continue along a rugby development pathway — whether pursuing provincial selection or simply playing for the love of the sport. Players will be divided by gender for contact activities.

A competitive development program supporting continued growth in contact rugby and preparing athletes for higher levels of play. Birth years 2011-2010. Includes:

Competitive contact rugby focused on technical skill development, game understanding, and match experience. Birth years 2011-2010. Includes:

U18 Women
A Competitive pathway program bridging junior and senior rugby participation. Birth years 2008-2009. Includes:
- Trainings
- Tournaments
- Potential exhibition games
- Participation in the U17 Fall League
- Eligibility: Birth years 2010–2009 (2011 athletes eligible with exemption).
- Opportunity to practice and play with the Senior Women’s team
- 2009 athletes require a signed player exemption to participate in Senior programs.
U18 Men
High-performance development program supporting transition into senior rugby. Birth years 2008-2009. Includes:
- Trainings
- Tournaments
- Potential exhibition games
- Participation in the U20 Summer League
- Potential selection to the Senior Men’s roster
- 2009 athletes require a signed player exemption to participate in U20 and Senior Men’s programs.
Senior VRU (aged 19+)
Contact rugby for athletes eligible for senior club competition, born 2009+*. This is the highest age category within Valley Rugby Union. Whether your goal is high-performance competition or enjoying a strong social rugby environment, there is a place for everyone.
The men’s and women’s teams compete in the Rugby Nova Scotia Senior Summer League and various tournaments throughout the season.
